Repurposing: Felted Acorns

When Fall hits I always find little acorn tops scattered on the ground. I felted some Fall colored acorns to glue inside the toppers for a great decoration for the season! They would look great scattered around the house or in a vase.

Upcycling: Seaside Summer Wreath

For this project I used an old wreath wrapped with fake ivy, an assortment of seashells and a leftover scrap piece of patriotic ribbon. I used an old white washed grapevine wreath and pulled all of the excess ivy off. Then I spraypainted the small starfish blue and red. I hot glued them to the wreath with a few white washed sand dollars and finished it off with a scrap piece of red, white and blue ribbon. Now we have a wonderful summer wreath that can grace a door from Memorial Day through the 4th of July!

Repurposing: Forks into Tile Stands

A lot of times we find metal forks that have a pretty pattern but stand alone. They have no matching pieces to go along with but they're still perfectly good forks. These forks were bent to accommodate some custom decoupaged tiles. They work great and are a piece of art in themselves, not to mention quite the conversation starter!

Repurposing: Candle Holder

This was once a boring old candle holder. It had picks to hold votive or pillar candles and a few of them had broken off. I snapped off the rest of the metal picks and replaced them with adorable clear tea cups. Inside each tea cup is a silicone cupcake liner. Now it can be a candle holder, cupcake tree or hold just about snack for a party!

Reclaiming: A Director's Chair

Someone brought us this director's chair. As you might be able to tell from the picture the paint is chipped all over and it's looking pretty shabby.
A little bit of sanding and a couple coats of white paint brought this chair back to its' original glory!

Reclaiming: Light Switch Plate

Do you have dull light switch covers? I recently recovered this one that was painted on. I chose to use wallpaper but there a lot of different materials that can be used.

You can use:
Wrapping paper
Scrapbook paper
Fabric
Wallpaper
Contact Paper

This was the video tutorial we used as a guide:

Upcycling: Diaper Tricycle Cake

Every now and then parents with infants donate leftover diapers when their children have grown out of them. We decided to take our leftovers and turn it into a great baby shower gift!

Complete with a baby bottle headlight, socks for handles and a baby blanket for handlebars.

Here is the tutorial we used:

Reclaiming: A Mid-Century Modern Side Table

Recently a side table was donated that had a lot of abuse but even more potential.

The table top looked like this: (Sorry for the blurry photo!)

With some very careful sanding and a light stain I was able to make it look like this:

This side table was made in the 1960s and even though it has seen a lot, it has been brought back to life to bask in it's Mid-Century Modern glory.

Upcycling: Not Your Grandmother's Candy Dish

This glass container is perfect for keeping candy but it was too plain. By decoupaging Easter pictures and ric rac to the sides it makes for a wonderful vintage inspired piece that brings out all the good sides of this otherwise plain candy dish.

I added a button bon bon on top for a bit of whimsy.

Repurposing: Old Jars Into Easter Decor

I took an old pickle jar and decoupaged an adorable vintage Easter picture on the front. I painted the lid, trimmed it with glittered ribbon and glued on a decorative button for a knob. It makes a great Spring decor item you can fill with twigs and moss, robin's eggs or even for holding candy!

Upcycling: Candle Holders

These little clear votive holders are pretty easy to come by and I felt they needed a little sprucing up.

I glittered on summer themed shapes on one side of the votive holder and winter themed shaped on the other side. They'll never have to be stored away with seasonal items. One turn and they change with the seasons!

Repurposing: Teapot Lamp

This wonderful old teapot was no longer useful for drinking out of. We also had a cracked lamp that despite its imperfection, still worked. After drilling a couple of holes in the teapot I took the lamp cord out of the cracked lamp and strung it through the teapot.

Repurposing: Bon Bon Magnets

Happy Valentine's Day!

This empty box of chocolates made for a wonderful display for these decorative bon bon magnets made from buttons!

I came across a couple of board games that were missing pieces. I glued little magnets on the back of the game pieces to make some unique and whimsical magnets!

Reinventing: Valentine's Day Vintage Hangings

These adorable hangings were once vintage cards and postcards. They are decorated with glittered ric rac and red tinsel trim.

They would make for a great little gift for Valentine's Day!

Or maybe just decoration around your home?

Upcycling: Valentine's Day Paint Can

Isn't this red paint can adorable? It would make a great gift container for Valentine's Day!

I came across this plain red paint can and after a little bit of decoupaging and adding red tinsel for trim it's ready to grace any shelf for this love filled holiday!

Upcycling: Iced out Ice Bucket

We had an ice bucket donated that was scratched around the outside and overall in sad shape. Using a wide variety of broken jewelry we keep on hand, we glued the pieces as well as small mirrors on the bucket. The end result is a blinged out ice bucket worthy of even the most upscale occassions!

Reinventing: Guest Bathroom Soaps

Do you have a growing collection of hotel soaps or ribbon scraps? I used a decorative sticker to cover up the ends of the ribbon and created a great little vintage inspired soap for the guest bathroom!
